Prince Harry and his wife Meghan are preparing to honor their final royal engagement on Monday alongside Queen Elizabeth II during a Commonwealth Day mass before they start their new life in Canada for good.
The queen must deliver a speech at London’s Westminster Abbey with ecological accents, encouraging the 54 countries of the organization to “prosper while protecting the planet”. “Belonging to the Commonwealth means something strong for those who live in the four corners of the world”, she should also declare, praising “the progress of technology” which allows “people, with remarkable immediacy, to feel this connection ”.
She herself will soon see her grandson Prince Harry, sixth in the order of succession to the throne, return to Canada, a member of the Commonwealth, after having honored on Monday his last engagement with the British crown. The 35-year-old prince will cease at the end of March, with his wife Meghan, to be an active member of the British royal family. They will no longer be able to use their Royal Highness titles or officially represent the Queen, and will have to support themselves.
The two thirties, who had shaken the British monarchy at the beginning of the year by announcing their decision, hope to embark on a new life on the Canadian coast with their son Archie, 10 months, far from “media intrusion”. The Duke of Sussex has repeatedly denounced the racism of the British tabloids towards his wife, Métis actress, and fears that she will be hunted in the same way as her mother Diana, who died in a car accident in 1997 in Paris while she was being chased by paparazzi.
“Proud” to serve the Queen
The “Megxit” had aroused great anger in the press or ardent supporters of the royal family, but the couple were warmly welcomed for their first return to the United Kingdom in late February.
They were given a standing ovation on Saturday, when they appeared at a military band concert. And Meghan’s surprise visit to a college in East London drew joy to the students. For their first joint appearance in public, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were warmly welcomed on Thursday during a ceremony to reward the sporting or personal exploits of sick or injured soldiers.
“It’s very nice to be back,” Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, told the audience at a London event recognizing the achievements of wounded veterans and soldiers.

“Many of you have told me this evening that you are covering my rear. I’m here to tell you that I will always cover yours, ”said Prince Harry, who said he was“ proud to have served with you as Captain Wales ”.
