Laboratory expansions in Silicon Valley, UK and Taiwan advance state-of-the-art emissions and immunity testing technology. This allows manufacturers to accelerate time-to-market and meet growing demand.
UL Solutions, a global leader in security technology, today announced plans to expand its EMC testing laboratories in Fremont, California, Basingstoke, UK and Taiwan to add EMC testing and certification capabilities for mobile devices increase.
The UK and Fremont laboratories are equipped with the latest testing technologies. They support the needs of manufacturers and expand capacities in the areas of consumer electronics, appliances, lighting, information technology, medical devices, automotive, high-tech components, Internet of Things (IoT), industrial products and last mile products in electric and micro mobility . The Fremont, Silicon Valley facility will soon feature new EMI and millimeter wave chambers that will enable shorter test times and help customers get their products to market faster. The laboratory in Basingstoke, UK will offer testing capabilities from 30 megahertz to 18 gigahertz. The configuration does not need to be changed, which enables faster testing since no settings changes are required.
According to the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) Intelligence, 53% of the population uses internet services via a mobile device. According to GSMA Intelligence, this is expected to make up around 60% of the population by 2025. According to GSMA Intelligence’s The Mobile Economy 2022 report, there will be a total of 23.3 billion IoT connections by 2025.

In addition to EMI solutions, UL Solutions offers testing capabilities for Thread 1.3, a low-power, low-latency wireless mesh networking protocol, and Matter 1.0, recently announced by the Connectivity Standards Alliance published industry standard for smart home technology. UL Solutions also offers Zigbee testing capabilities at select laboratories in the US and UK.
