Two stolen e-bikes / A 33-year-old in custody / Fast investigation after bicycle theft

Darmstadt (ots) – After his arrest on Friday afternoon (May 22), a 33-year-old man has been in custody since last weekend. The suspect is urgently suspected of stealing two high-quality e-bikes from a property on Franklinstrasse in the night of Friday (May 21-22). He will now have to face criminal charges.

After the owners of the e-bikes had noticed and reported the theft early Friday morning, they were amazed when they discovered one of their bikes at 10:30 a.m. in Stresemannstrasse and owned by the suspect. The owner immediately alerted the police and quickly clicked the handcuffs on the 33-year-old. The stolen bike was handed over to its owner on the spot. The detainee had to accompany the officers to the guard. He spent the night there before being brought before a judge at the request of the Darmstadt public prosecutor the following day. The latter issued a pre-trial arrest warrant for the homeless person and immediately sent him to the nearest correctional facility. There is still no trace of the second stolen e-bike, which is a black bike from the Rymon brand. The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the Investigation Group City in Darmstadt. Witnesses who can provide information on the whereabouts of the still missing e-bike in this context are asked to contact them (phone number 06151/9690).
