An accident on the Kuinderweg between Emmeloord and Kuinre cost the lives of an 82-year-old woman from the Noordoostpolder and 78-year-old man from Urk. A third person was seriously injured.
The three tried to catch a tractor with their car on Saturday evening, after which things went wrong for unclear reasons. The vehicle came to a halt against a tree.
According to The Stentor the emergency services yanked en masse when the accident report arrived. Nevertheless help for one of the victims came too late, who died on the spot of serious injuries. Resuscitation attempts were no longer allowed.
The third passenger is still seriously injured in the hospital, the newspaper writes. The police are investigating the causes of the accident and are looking for witnesses. The Kuinderweg was closed for hours on Saturday in the context of traces.
