A major warning strike began in the Hamburg retail and mail order business during the night. Customers have to be prepared for restrictions today and tomorrow.
This affects supermarkets such as Rewe, Penny, Marktkauf and Kaufland. The same goes for the fashion chains H&M, Zara and Primark, the Douglas perfumeries, the Thalia bookstores, Ikea and Hermes Versand.
ver.di wants more money for 70,000 employees
The ver.di union has called on employees to stop work today and tomorrow. She wants to increase the pressure on employers in the deadlocked collective bargaining dispute. “The reason for this is the employers’ refusal to present a sufficient offer in the current collective bargaining round for the approximately 70,000 employees in Hamburg’s retail and mail order business,” says ver.di. The union is demanding, among other things, 4.5 percent more money, a minimum hourly wage of 12.50 euros and general binding of the Hamburg collective agreements.

In the morning, a rally is planned in front of the trade union building at Besenbinderhof – due to Corona with a maximum of 200 employees. In the past few weeks there had been repeated protests in the Hamburg retail and mail order business. The renewed warning strike should last until Saturday evening.
