Twitter warns if users like misleading tweet | NOW

Twitter warns users if they want to like a message marked as misleading, the company said in a Tuesday tweet known.

The warning appears if the user likes a potentially misleading message. Twitter then shows again in an additional window that the content of the message is disputed.

The warnings will be shown on iOS and in the web version of Twitter starting this week. They will also appear in the Twitter app on Android in the coming weeks.

In the run-up to this year’s US presidential election, Twitter began warning against tweets containing misleading information. For example, a number of Donald Trump’s tweets were labeled because they contained dubious information.

The platform also warned users if they wanted to share a message that was marked as incorrect. This warning served as an additional barrier to retweeting such messages. According to Twitter, the warnings have resulted in a 29 percent decrease in misleading messages.
