A US court sends TV star Lori Loughlin to prison for two months. She wanted to get her daughters a place at university with bribes.
In the bribery scandal surrounding the US actress Lori Loughlin (56) and her husband Mossimo Giannulli (57), the competent court in the US state has passed a judgment. Loughlin not only has to be behind bars for two months, but also has to serve a suspended sentence for two years. In addition, she must pay a $ 150,000 fine and do a total of 100 hours of community service. The former “Full House” series star was presented with the verdict in the course of a video conference because an announcement in the trial room could not take place due to the corona measures.
Loughlin’s insight comes too late
Loughlin’s husband will soon face a five-month prison sentence. After a long period of hesitation, the couple pleaded guilty to having bribed a California university with $ 500,000 to get their two daughters admitted to university. In the meantime, Loughlin regrets her actions deeply and sees in a TV interview that she has made “a terrible decision”. She is “ready to face the consequences and make amends,” the actress asserts in front of the camera.
Unlike fellow actor Felicity Huffman, 57, who was involved in a similar college scandal, Loughlin’s insight came quite late. Huffman had tried with bribes to subsequently improve her daughter’s entrance test. When exposed, the “Desperate Housewives” star pleaded guilty and was sentenced to only two weeks in jail. It is not yet known in which prison Loughlin will be imprisoned.
