Handball second division TuS Ferndorf is in crisis. There is a narrow defeat in the Christmas game against HC Elbflorenz.

Kreuztal. With the fourth defeat in a row, handball second division team TuS Ferndorf goes into the final game on Wednesday in Bietigheim. On “Boxing Day” Robert Andersson’s team lost to HC Elbflorenz 2006 after a catastrophic performance in the first half and despite a significant increase in the second half, but deservedly 30:31 (15:19).
First ward off a pile of chickens
19 goals conceded in one half – so many stalls Ferndorf had only conceded in Emsdetten this season. This high number was due to two factors: a defensive defense that was full of holes in all respects and poor goalkeeping performances, first Marin Durica, then after around 20 minutes the substitute Tim Hottgenroth. Both keepers got almost no ball in their hands, but were all too often left in the lurch by their front men, who were far too seldom able to organize the strong backcourt of Dresden. PS: Lucas Puhl was not available for the current Corona test because of an initially “technical problem”.
Meanwhile six goals behind
It didn’t help the winning countries that the attack was more powerful this time than last, but still made way too many technical errors and passes into nothing. Since the Saxons did not do better for a long time, the lead changed a wild first half back and forth before Elbflorenz took off with a first 4-0 goal run to 10: 7 (20th). The TuS deficit even grew to six hits (11:17), at the break there was a deserved 15:19 mortgage for the hosts, for whom things could have gone better after the break, yes should have.
Marin Durica increases
But it continued in this style at first. A defense without access and Marin Durica, who was always behind the throws and returned between the posts – with these weak points it was almost impossible to catch up. Ferndorf always followed the music. It was successful individual actions by Andreas Bornemann and Julian Schneider and an improved wing game that gave TuS new hope in the middle of the first half.
When the defense stole a ball after a long, long time and Lukas Pechy used one of the very few counter attacks to 22:25 (43rd), the hoped-for tailwind finally set in, spurred on by the red card for HC circle runner Jonas Thümmler , who had encountered Andreas Bornemann at his goal to 25:28.
Alright in terms of fighting
And because Marin Durica suddenly fended off several balls, Dresden apparently seemed to be running out of breath, it actually got exciting again in the final phase. The strong Torben Matzken, who was occasionally represented by Lucas Schneider on the “middle” and had switched to the half-left back position for Toni Sario, who was again disappointing, shortened to 28:30 with his double strike. Dumcius’s 28:31 was not yet the knockout for the TuS either, the fighting spirit was right in all parts of the team.
Bornemann’s last attempt unsuccessful
Josip Eres (seven meters) and Andreas Bornemann made it 30:31 (58th), but the ex-Hagener shot his next throw over it, no compensation that would have put Florence on the Elbe under pressure. The guest hit the post through Sebastian Greß and gave Ferndorf another chance to the point, but the Siegerländer did not know how to use it, made it much too complicated in the remaining 27 seconds in their last attack – somehow indicative of the current situation at TuS Ferndorf, who suddenly finds himself in the relegation zone at the end of the year.
