The media reported on the death of Islamic religious and public figure Fethullah Gulen

A number of Turkish publications did not rule out the poisoning of the Islamic religious preacher Fethullah Gulen.

Turkish media on Thursday, November 18 reported the death of Islamic religious and public figure Fethullah Gulen. In particular, the Turkish opposition news portal Room TV stated that Gulen, accused by Ankara of attempting a coup d’état, could have been poisoned and is already dead.

However, none of the major publications confirmed these rumors.

Gulen’s supporters deny information about his death. In particular, Gulen’s close friend Cevdet Türkyolu also got in touch. He published video, in which he said that nothing threatens the life of the oppositionist, and rumors of an attempt on his life are “false news.”

Turkish authorities have accused Fethullah Gulen’s organization, which they call FETO, of involvement in the 2016 coup attempt.

After the mutiny in Turkey, more than 80 people were arrested, about 150 thousand civil servants, including the military, were fired. Gulen himself, who is in the United States, condemned the coup attempt and denied all accusations against him.

Recall, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, during a speech to youth in the province of Canakkale, said that he is the most experienced among the world leaders.
