The surcharges are tough: with immediate effect, Trinseo (Berwyn, Pennsylvania / USA) wants the prices for PS-GP (“Styron” brand) and PS-HI (“Styron”, “Styron A-Tech”, “Styron C -Tech “and” Styron X-Tech “) by 520 EUR / t. The company announced surcharges of 430 EUR / t for ABS (“Magnum”) and an exorbitant 600 EUR / t for polycarbonate (“Caliber”).
The demands follow the explosion in styrene costs. The styrene reference contract rose sharply by EUR 501 / t in March 2021 compared to the previous month. Butadiene rose in price by EUR 20 / t, ACN by EUR 120 / t.
