Police arrested a man after four children and two adults were found dead in a home in suburban Ottawa, You have. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau asked the police to immediately thoroughly investigate the case.
Reported by AFP, Friday (8/3/2024), the police in their press release said the victims had not been identified. Detectives have launched a “tragic and complex investigation”.
Police said they discovered six bodies at a property in the Ottawa suburb of Barrhaven after receiving a call at 11 p.m. Wednesday night local time.
Officers arrested one man at the scene and a seventh person, who was injured, was taken to hospital.
The incident was initially thought to be a shooting, but police later said that was not confirmed.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed his “shock and horror” at what he called a “terrible tragedy.”
“Obviously, our first reaction was shock and horror at this terrible violence. And we hope that police in those jurisdictions do that job and keep us all informed about this terrible tragedy,” Trudeau said at his press conference.
Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe wrote in X about this incident. He admitted that he was devastated by the murder.
“I was devastated to learn of the rash of murders in Barrhaven, one of the most shocking incidents of violence in our city’s history,” he said.
“We are proud to live in a safe community, but this news is sad for all Ottawa residents,” he added.
