Throughout 2022, 904 DHF sufferers were registered in Palembang and 11 people died

Palembang, Detiksumsel. com — For all of 2022, the number of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) cases was recorded at 904. Of the total cases, 11 people died.

“The 904 cases of DHF consist of 462 patients aged 5 to 14 years, 314 cases of patients aged 15 to 44,” said the head of the section for the prevention and control of infectious diseases of the Palembang Health Office, Yudhi Setiawan, Wednesday (4/1/2022).

Yudhi said DHF cases in Palembang fluctuated throughout 2022. There were 102 cases in July 2022, 84 cases in August, 62 cases in September, 53 in October, 74 in November and decreased in December by 57 cases.

However, dengue cases in December 2022 are slightly higher than in the December period of previous years due to higher rainfall,” he explained.

Aside from high rainfall, which can lead to more nests of mosquito larvae in the community, lack of public awareness of implementing the 3Ms (drain, close, bury) is one factor in the increase in dengue cases.

“Most of the DHF cases are found in Ilir Timur II sub-district, Plaju sub-district and Kalidoni,” he said.

To anticipate the rise in dengue cases, his party issued a circular urging the public to eradicate mosquito larvae by implementing 3M. The circular was also signed by the regional secretary of Palembang, Ratu Dewa.

“This circular letter will later be forwarded to the sub-district head and the head of RT,” he said.
