Three new arrests in case of large-scale drug trafficking via darkweb | NOW

In an investigation into large-scale drug trafficking on the dark web, three more suspects were arrested again, the Public Prosecution Service (TO) Tuesday. It concerns a 33-year-old man from Rotterdam and a father and son (59 and 30 years old) from Spijkenisse.

The police raided the company of the father and son in Barendrecht. Drugs were recently found to have been produced on a large scale in the industrial hall. More than 400,000 ecstasy pills were also stored. The company also produced boilers for the production of drugs.

The arrested Rotterdammer often visited the company. Police suspect him of distributing the drugs to other suspects. They would then have offered the drugs for sale on the dark web, a closed part of the internet.

The three suspects were arrested on April 22, their pre-trial detention has been extended by 90 days. The police do not rule out multiple arrests in the case.

Two previous arrests

In February, the same study involved a 38-year-old man from Pijnacker and a 40-year-old man from Voorburg arrested. The men would have handled at least thirteen hundred orders via the dark web.

The man from Voorburg is said to have organized the sale on the dark web, the man from Pijnacker then drove to Germany to post packages of drugs there. The police tracked down the Rotterdammer because he had regular contact with the man from Pijnacker.

When the Rotterdammer was arrested, the police found a large amount of money and all kinds of goods intended for the production of drugs.
