Three Hispanic men charged with operating a fentanyl factory in the Bronx

NEW YORK — Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced Monday that three men have been charged with operating a fentanyl factory in the Bronx that supplied traffickers in the metropolitan area.

According to the investigation, on October 19, 2023, the defendants were in an apartment in 55 East 179th Street in the Bronx, where they allegedly imported fentanyl through Pennsylvania and Connecticut and packaged it for distribution. The estimated street value of the drugs is approximately $300,000.

“The defendants allegedly operated a fentanyl factory that packaged thousands of glass envelopes of the drug that continues to tear apart families and kill people in our community,” said District Attorney Clark. “I thank our partners at the DEA and DETF for their work with us to close this factory.

District Attorney Clark said Miguelange Lopez, 29, and Adell Batista, 23, both of Manhattan, were arraigned Monday and charged with conspiracy, criminal possession of controlled substances, firearm, ammunition and drug paraphernalia. narcotics management.

According to investigators, Lopez was seen delivering the substance to a third suspect, Darlin Garcia, 33, later arrested with at least 20 servings of the drug. Garcia will be arraigned on Thursday.

Since September 15, there have been at least four fentanyl seizures in Bronx County, involving a daycare center, a pizzeria, and two residences.
