Three arrests after unrest at café in Utrechts Oudewater | NOW

Three people were arrested in Oudewater in Utrecht on Saturday evening after unrest broke out at a café on the Wijdstraat where carnival was celebrated. According to the police, dozens of people were involved.

According to the police, people have fought each other. A large group of people also caused vandalism at the café in question. Around 7 p.m. the police advised people to stay away from the Wijdstraat because of the “grim atmosphere”. In the meantime, peace would have returned.

According to it AD the police received a message that the windows had been smashed at the cafe. The police reported to the newspaper that there were about two hundred people on the move. Whether or not people were injured during the fighting is not yet known.

The newspaper also reports that dogs were also used to restore peace to Wijdstraat, where carnival is currently being celebrated.
