On Saturday evening, thousands again marched through Reutlingen’s city center: they protested in particular against compulsory vaccination. The police were on site in large numbers.
According to the police, around 5,000 demonstrators gathered mostly peacefully. The organizers themselves said that 12,500 people took part in the protest. Many of them had to be made aware of the mask requirement. They protested against the compulsory vaccination for care from mid-March and a possible general compulsory vaccination. The Corona elevator was originally registered with 7,000 participants. The organizer of the demonstration is a carer himself and has not been vaccinated.
The demonstrators expressed their displeasure with the existing restrictions on posters and banners. Banners read: “Election promise before the election: ‘Vaccination obligation never with and’, after the election: ‘Compulsory vaccination’ – ‘We can no longer vote for these liars’. Others read: ‘#I don’t do it’ or ‘” Freedom thieves in court! Resistance is mandatory!” The participants roared, whistled and drummed. The police were in action with a large contingent, including officers from the cavalry squadron “. Police forces were on site immediately, and no criminal offenses had taken place, according to the police.
A demonstrator tried to disturb SWR reporter Kay-Uwe Hennig with heckling:
Reutlinger Mayor Thomas Keck considers the demos to be a social problem
The Mayor of Reutlingen, Thomas Keck (SPD), cannot explain why large corona demonstrations are regularly taking place in Reutlingen. Keck said on Saturday morning that he did not know who the people who regularly demonstrated in Reutlingen were, nor where they came from. Only once before – on December 18 – have the police recorded the personal details of 500 participants in an unregistered meeting. “At that time, about 45 percent were from the city. And I think another 40 percent from the region, and the rest from further afield,” said Keck.
