The makers of the popular DIY program have changed course, but Thomas did not agree with those plans. “As it was, I just really liked it. We made beautiful things and it has now become a different program. (…) They should have stayed away from it a little bit, but that didn’t work out.”

Still, Thomas has not said goodbye to the television world, he is still in for a major DIY program. “Then you can explain more about the trades. That’s the nice thing. But that wasn’t possible. I thought: we’re not going to do that.” The carpenter has certainly not hung up his hammer, because he has picked up his old work again. “Before, I just worked for myself as a carpenter, so I now do that full-time. I can just be hired.”
