A study by the DGE – German Nutrition Society – found that we consume four times as much salt as we actually need. To give you a number, the daily sodium requirement for an adult is 1.4 grams. Sodium forces the body to store water in the tissue, but at the same time it also removes it, which is totally counterproductive for weight loss.
