A study has discovered that The Microsoft Store is experiencing serious security issues on approximately 5,000 PCs. According to the cybersecurity company Check Point, some apps on the digital distribution platform are actually Electron Bot, malware that infects devices when installed.

The report details that cybercriminals have made clones of the most popular games in the Microsoft Store to attract the attention of users and make them download them. Once a user installs Electron Bot under the assumption that they are the real video games, cybercriminals gain access to the device.
According to Check Point, the spoofed game companies are:
- Luzy Games.
- Crazy 4 Games.
- Jeuxjeuxjeux Games.
- Akshi Games.
- Goo Games.
- Bizzon Case.

Among the most famous video games that are part of this cyberattack are Temple Run and Subway Surfers. However, they are not the only ones and users should be wary of any apps that come from spoofed companies.
To date, Microsoft has not made any official statement. While waiting for the company to fix the problem, users should be careful about what they install from the Microsoft Store. Above all, in Spain, Bermuda and Sweden, where Check Point has discovered that there are almost 5,000 computers infected by malware.
