41-year-old Italian sends appeal from the intensive care unit

But this picture is not complete: the likelihood of a severe course of disease increases with age, but young people also need intensive treatment and are at risk in their lives.

The more infected there are, the more people will experience this firsthand, warns the 41-year-old Italian Gianni Zampino. He is currently fighting for his life on a respirator. His father had previously died of Convid-19.

Gianni Convid-19 would not survive without ventilation

As Gianni tells in the video interview with the broadcaster “RAI 1”, he neither smoked nor drank. He does not suffer from previous illnesses and has always kept himself physically fit. But now his life is completely out of joint: “I spend the nights on the ventilator and cannot sleep … I want that no one has to endure the suffering that I am enduring. It looks like a horror film, but unfortunately it is not . ”
