Friday evening, shortly after 7 p.m., a real family tragedy occurred in a home in Rocourt on the Chaussée de Tongres. Cynthia, a lady born in 1969, was shot and killed by her husband, Jean-Luc, also born in 1969 and living at the same address. Jean-Luc then turned the gun on him and shot himself in the head. Seriously injured, he was operated overnight from Friday to Saturday.

Friday night, it was a friend of the couple, who used to come and greet Cynthia and Jean-Luc, who discovered the scene of the drama. The friend then immediately notified the police and the emergency services.
When the latter intervened, there was unfortunately nothing more to do for Cynthia who had died following a gunshot. Jean-Luc, himself, despite being shot at close range, was still alive but in a state deemed critical.
Wounded in the head with a bullet, he was taken to a hospital in the Liège region where he was operated on overnight from Friday to Saturday. As of Saturday afternoon, he still has yet to be heard by investigators. His days were still considered to be in danger.
His hearing should shed some light on the reasons that led him to kill his wife and attempt suicide.
“At the moment, we know nothing about the reasons that prompted him to act,” said Catherine Collignon, First Deputy Crown Prosecutor in charge of press relations, in particular.
Right now, this is the ink bottle about the story.
Warned of the tragedy, the couple’s two grown children, who no longer live at home, are in shock. They don’t understand their father’s gesture. Cynthia and Jean-Luc were described as a problem-free couple.
The next few hours will be crucial for Jean-Luc.
