This is how photographers and colleagues react to image retouching

An anonymous Instagram user has for a long time posted photos taken from the accounts of Vita and Wanda Mashadi, together with the original photos – to prove that they edit themselves thinner. This week, the girls responded to the criticism in the podcast «Twin therapy»:

– We can be completely open and honest and say that some of the photos on our Instagram profiles have been edited. But there are very few of them, and it is back in time, they say.

They say that they have stopped editing and apologize if anyone has experienced body pressure as a result of their photos.

After TV 2 covered the case, a number of photographers have reacted strongly to the twins’ photo retouching.

Photographers respond: – Not okay

Many of their photos were taken by professional photographers in connection with TV productions such as “Kompani Lauritzen” and “Camp Kulinaris” and have been made available to the participants to promote the programs.

Photographer Rune Bendiksen, who has taken photos for “Camp Kulinaris” and is one of those who have had their photos tampered with, says to Good evening Norway that it is not okay:

– I can not accept that others change my photos after I deliver them from me. It is a pity that society thinks that you have to do it in pictures of yourself. That we can no longer trust anything. I think those who are celebrities and influencers have a responsibility.

Photographer Erik Burås has taken pictures of Vita for NRK, and has also had his pictures tampered with. He says that he has a good impression of the Mashadi girls and that he experiences that they are mostly themselves. He thinks it is unfortunate to retouch to new or different body shapes, but still points out that he has seen worse examples.

– To influence girls and boys to be happy with their bodies regardless of shape, I wish in general was higher up on the agenda of influencers.

However, he thinks some retouching is fine:

– To retouch pimples, snot and other things that are naturally not there, I think is perfectly fine, he says.

– The Instagram police are in place!

Ole Kaland has also taken pictures of Vita Mahadi for NRK. He says he himself is very careful with decorating pictures.

– In any case, it is completely out of the question to edit photos that they have “received”, he says.

Bård Basberg has taken pictures of Vita Mashadi on «71 degrees north celebrity». He says that it is nothing new that influencers edit themselves thinner and prettier and jokingly adds:

– Fortunately, the Instagram police Mads Hansen is in place and picks it up!

Promised Mads Hansen to never edit again

Mads Hansen (37) has posted an earlier interview on Instagram’s history function Red carpet. There, he and Vita Mashadi are interviewed in connection with an earlier incident where it was discovered that Wanda Mashadi had edited thinner on an Instagram photo.

The sequence ends with Mashadi promising to never edit his photos again.

When Good evening Norway talked to Mads Hansen about the retouched photos earlier in May, he said that it is reprehensible to retouch thinner, but that he gets a taste of the way the anonymous account handles the problem.

– There is something disgusting about zooming in and out on details and inspecting the bodies of Vita and Wanda, he says.

– A whole new chapter of what should not be okay

It is not just photographers, and Instagram police Mads Hansen who have joined the debate about the Mashadi twins’ photos. Several celebrities have thrown themselves into the debate – TV profile Aurora Gude (28) is particularly critical of the editing. She is currently featured in the new season of “71 Degrees North Celebrity”.

To Good evening Norway, she says that she is afraid such retouching will contribute to increased insecurity among others.

– I think it is completely wrong to edit thinner or prettier as it helps to make all the pressure in social media even greater. Not least, I would go crazy even if I were to walk the streets and look completely different. It would have looked silly when I’m on TV too.

She points out that the Mashadi girls are super beautiful.

– It is very sad that they do not feel that they are nice enough and dare to edit to such an extent. (…) I hope this can help the two sisters open up for a kind of new world on Instagram that is unfiltered and unedited to focus on acceptance for themselves and that they are beautiful as they are, and that others can inspired by this, she concludes.

Makes humor out of it

Morten Hegseth (35) was in this year’s season of “Kompani Laurtizen” and jokes that he and Vegard Harm (25) were cast as “this year’s first prize version” of Vita and Wanda – who were with the year before them.

On Instagram, he has now posted an ironic post where he writes that he admits to having done the same:

Comedian Terje Sporsem (45) was a participant in this year’s season of “Farmen Kjendis”. When he heard about the photo editing for the twins, he was quickly on the ball:

“I see that Vita and Wanda are getting thin because they have made changes to photos from Kompani Lauritzen to their own advantage. I just want to say that I could never do something like that. To make oneself better and perhaps even portray the others a little disadvantageously in a picture taken by TV2, is simply badly done !!! »

Vita and Wanda Mashadi have been sent the comments in this case and do not wish to comment on the case further. Their partners have not responded to Good evening Norway’s inquiries.
