Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The delta variant which is one of the mutations of SARS-Cov-2 is one of the most contagious, it can even be transmitted only by meeting each other at any time. This was found from an investigation carried out at Bondi Junction Westfiled, after a health official said the delta variant could be transmitted only by fleeting contact.
New South Wales (NSW), Australia’s most populous state and home to the economic capital Sydney, found 31 positive cases of local transmission of the Delta variant. This makes the NSW government decide to temporarily lock down areas that have delta variant infections and limit the mobility of residents.
NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard stated that this Delta variant virus is a virus with a stronger transmission capability than several previous Covid variants.
“[varian] This delta has shown itself to be very capable of spreading very quickly and in circumstances that the NSW population has never experienced in the same way before,” Hazzard said at a news conference.
He further explained that this virus can be transmitted directly by someone who is infected to the people around him.
“This is a virus that is highly capable of transmitting even when we have close proximity between the infecting individual and any of us who may be passing through,” he added.
“They met no more than a few seconds somewhere in the range between 10 and maybe 50-60 centimeters away in a passing situation,” he continued.
This observation also shows the suspicion that the Delta variant can be transmitted just by meeting. This led him to assert that the Delta variant was a very threatening danger.
“The Delta Covid-19 variant is a very close recent danger.”
To curb the rate of infection, the government has also decided to take testing measures at some points. This caused residents to storm the testing location so that the police had time to urge residents to spread out to alternative testing locations to reduce queues.
“Citizens are urged to consider alternative testing sites,” NSW police wrote on Twitter.
This danger has led some Australian states, such as Western Australia and Queensland, to decide to temporarily hold off on arrivals from NSW.
This step was also taken by New Zealand which decided to impose a quarantine from all over Australia. Even the country in the South of the earth is considering locking down the capital Wellington after an Australian tourist was found to be exposed to Covid-19 there.
