They vote to enforce a ban on carrying arms in Times Square

The City Council Public Safety Committee is meeting today to vote on the law that clearly defines the sections of Times Square where gun carrying will not be allowed.

The area has been declared gun-free since 1 September, but now the question is what its permanent demarcation will be.

This is the map under consideration, extending from 6th Avenue to 9th Avenue between 40th Street and parts of 53rd St. The area includes areas of Midtown not normally considered part of Times Square.

Some New Yorkers have criticized the unarmed cartels because they are not big enough.

Today’s vote also includes measures on illegal arms trafficking in the city.
