About Kyburg, who is currently 72 years old, weigh national and international arrest warrants since 2012 and March 2015, the Argentine justice issued an extradition request to Germany, according to Bild.

But “the German authorities rejected this request on the basis of a practice whereby they do not extradite their citizens to third countries.”

During the dictatorship, Kyburg was second commander of the “Agrupación Buzos Tácticos”, a special unit of the Argentine Navy, and participated in the death squads, which they executed opponents and critics of the Argentine dictatorship.

Kyburg responded to Bild saying, “Here I wait. A court in Germany, not Argentina. I hope. Innocent. Calm down. ”

The Berlin NGO ECCHR considered that Germany should not “be a safe place for criminals of the Argentine dictatorship” and asked the German prosecution to initiate an extradition process against Kyburg.
