The emergency occurred this Thursday afternoon in the Los Quillayes neighborhood, when the flames began to affect several departments of a building. Unfortunately, two children were unable to escape, dying at the scene.
Two children, only five and seven years old, died Thursday afternoon in the commune of La Florida, in the Metropolitan Region, after a fire that affected departments located in the Los Quillayes sector.
The incident started on an extension that the neighbors built on the site. In addition, a third person had to be transferred to a healthcare center.

At the site of the event there were problems between residents of the sector and police, after people accused the uniformed officers of not helping enough in the emergency., since they did not enter the affected homes.
Juan Quevedo, second commander of the Ñuñoa Fire Company, stated that “when firefighters arrived the place found a somewhat complex situation due to the desperation of the neighbors, there is also a difficult situation with the taps in the sector -some were not in the conditions they should have been -but the truth is that finally people ended up contributing in a good way ”.
In addition, he added that “the total damage is two departments due to fire and one neighboring department due to the smoke generated by the fire”, Along with explaining that the health status of the person referred to a healthcare center is unknown.
The cause of the fire and the death of the two children in this emergency are still under investigation.
