Mexico City.-The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) extradited five drug traffickers to the United States, including Mario Hidalgo Argüello, former operator of the Sinaloa Cartel whose testimonies were key to stop Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán.
According to information from the FGR, “Nose” was part of the first level structure of the Sinaloa Cartel, and was one of the most trusted men of the “Chapo”, from whom he revealed his shelters in Culiacán, which led to the capture of the capo in February 2014.

The FGR also handed over US authorities to Martín Pérez Marrufo, alias “Popeye”, a member of the criminal organization “Barrio Azteca”, allegedly related to an attack on the United States Consulate in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua.
In compliance with Extradition Treaty Between Mexico and the United States, Fernando Ibarra Lara, a member of a cell that operates for the Arellano Félix Cartel, and Jorge Antonio Ceniceros Román, “Tachi”, linked to the Sinaloa Cartel, were also handed over.
Also, Nelson Matías Rentería Villarreal, aka “Nelson Herrera”, who was arrested in 2019 and is accused in the United States of criminal association, against health and carrying a firearm, for trafficking large quantities of cocaine to that country.

In addition to the drug traffickers, an alleged trafficker identified as Jaime Granados Rendón, aka “Sergio Granados” or “El Pollo”, was extradited for whom a reward was offered for his capture.
“El Pollo” is an alleged international trafficker of women for the purpose of sexual exploitation that operated in Tenancingo, Tlaxcala, a town considered the epicenter of that crime in Mexico.
According to data from the Prosecutor’s Office, Granados Rendón will be prosecuted by the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of New York for his probable responsibility in the crime of trafficking in persons for the purpose of sexual exploitation and trafficking of persons for an economic gain.
