The United States may recognize Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism – the Senate approved the relevant resolution

The resolution states that Russia must be recognized as a country sponsoring terrorism for its actions in Chechnya, Georgia, Syria and Ukraine, which led to “the death of countless innocent men, women and children.”

“The armed forces of the Russian Federation carried out numerous summary executions of innocent civilians and tried to hide their atrocities with mass graves throughout Ukraine,” the Senate bill says.

It is noted that a similar measure was approved in the House of Representatives, where Speaker Nancy Pelosi is expected to be a strong supporter of its passage. However, the power to designate a government sponsor of terrorism rests with the State Department.

The publication emphasizes that the adoption of the resolution by the Senate puts even more pressure from Congress on the administration of President Joe Biden.

We recall that the resolution on the recognition of Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism Democrat Richard Blumenthal and Republican Lindsey Graham filed for the US Senate.

Now US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is being urged to recognize this officially, after which Russia could become the fifth country on this list.

As US Representative Nancy Pelosi said, if this step is not taken at the US State Department, then Congress will do it.
