What are these fighter jets over the Trakia residential complex at 10:00 p.m.? They literally fly over the blocks, we put the child to sleep for an hour. This was reported last night by a reader of Plovdiv24.bgliving in the Plovdiv region in question.

“Last night, a MiG 29 made several flyovers and maneuvers over Krumovo, they did the same during the day, they have exercises, Plovdiv is surrounded by military airfields and such sights are normal. It even bothers me that they fly too little and hardly do the minimum for hours in the sky,” explains a user of the social network Facebook.

At the moment on the Ministry of Defense website, the only exercise for which there is official information is the following, but it is not related to air force equipment:

The Platinum Lion 22 joint training has begun, which will take place from July 25 to August 5 at the Novo Selo training ground. Up to 450 servicemen with about 90 units of equipment are participating in it, and the topic of the training is “Participation in a multinational battalion combat a group in a defensive operation as part of a multinational joint task force’.

Platinum Lion 22 is conducted in the form of company tactical exercises with the participation of servicemen from the 42nd Mechanized Battalion – Yambol and the Force Protection Battalion from the Second Mechanized Brigade – Stara Zagora, the crew of unmanned aerial vehicles from the ISTAR Battalion of the 61st mechanized brigade – Karlovo, two tank platoons from the Specialist Training Center – Sliven, a mechanized company from the US armed forces and an infantry platoon from the armed forces of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

At the opening ceremony of the joint training, the national flags of the participating countries Bulgaria, the USA and Great Britain were solemnly raised, and the servicemen were greeted by Brigadier General Stanimir Hristov – commander of the Second Mechanized Brigade. In his address, he emphasized the importance of Platinum Lion 22 as part of the increased vigilance measures taken to ensure the security of member countries and strengthen the deterrent defense potential of NATO’s eastern flank in response to the complex security environment.

“Taking into account the set goals and the short time for assembling the actions of the formations, I expect an extremely dynamic preparation in which all of you will show what you are capable of,” said Brigadier General Hristov.
