The Secretary of State thanked the people for their work and explained that the decision to fire them was the result of the decisions of the Russian authorities.
The United States will fire 182 employees of the American diplomatic mission in Russia due to Moscow’s ban on hiring foreigners and third-country nationals to the United States. This was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who is quoted by the press service of the State Department.
“Since August, the Russian government has prohibited the United States from retaining or hiring employees from Russia or third countries, with the exception of guards. We are upset that this will force us to fire 182 local employees from our diplomatic missions in Moscow, Vladivostok and Yekaterinburg.
The United States will honor its commitments by continuing to maintain a predictable and stable relationship with Russia. “
Blinken thanked people for their work and explained that these layoffs are a direct result of decisions by the Russian authorities.
Recall that on April 21, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced expulsion of 10 American diplomats in response to similar US actions. Also in the Russian Federation, American diplomatic missions were banned from hiring foreign citizens.
