The United States is demanding that Russia allow the OSCE mission to conduct observations on the Ukrainian-Russian border and release the illegally detained persons.
“Russia must withdraw its weapons and forces and return to Ukraine full control over its internationally recognized borders. Russia must take responsibility for ending the conflict it started in eastern Ukraine“, – said the US Embassy.
In September 2014, Ukraine, Russia and the OSCE signed the so-called “Minsk Protocol” – an agreement on an armistice and settlement of the conflict in Donbass. Later, in February, the parties signed a new document that determined the plan for the implementation of the agreements.
Now Ukraine and Russia interpret this document differently. Moscow demands that the agreements be carried out in the order specified in the document, but Ukraine does not agree with this and insists that Russia first withdraw its troops from the occupied Donbass.
