Slavic football player Ondřej Kúdela suffered a bruised nose in Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier in Wales. The 34-year-old national team defender has a high fever, is taking antibiotics and his start in Thursday’s opening match of the quarterfinals of the European League at Arsenal is uncertain.
Kudela was apparently injured at the end of the match in Wales by the captain of the island team, Gareth Bale, who struck him with an elbow without penalty. “According to an examination at the Central Military Hospital in Střešovice, Ondřej Kúdela has nasal contusion, high fever and antibiotics. The duration of treatment cannot be estimated at the moment,” Slavia said on her website.
Kúdela was missing in the nomination for today’s league match in Brno and it is uncertain whether he will be available for a duel with Arsenal. Slavia allegedly considered his involvement in London for security reasons after an experienced defender in the recent retaliation of the round of 16 in Glasgow was accused of racist insult by Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara.
