The heads of state will discuss several blocks of issues: energy security, Russian aggression in the Black Sea, and justice reforms.
The Presidents of the United States and Ukraine, Joe Biden and Volodymyr Zelenskiy, will discuss security issues, including energy, and reform issues, in particular, justice, during their meeting in Washington in late August. This was stated by Charge d’Affaires of Ukraine George Kent, writes Public.
“There are three blocks of issues. These are security problems, including various types of Russian aggression against Ukraine, not only the issue of the conventional war in Donbass, but also aggression in the Black Sea. The second block of issues is energy security. Then there is the reform program, which includes anti-corruption and reform justice, as well as other institutional reforms … “, – said Kent.
He stressed that the country needs “strong, respectable institutions that meet the interests of the Ukrainian people.”
Justice reforms are no less important.
“The Verkhovna Rada recently passed several key laws, and this is the first step in the hope of creating a full-fledged justice sector that ensures equality and access,” Kent said.
