We all know Tom Holland (1996), the actor in charge of giving life to Spider-Man in Marvel’s UCM and current partner of the singer and actress Zendaya. On Monday’s episode of the show Late Night With Seth Meyers, Hollander, the 56-year-old British actor, recalled the humiliating moment when his agency mistook him for Holland, 27, and accidentally sent him the Marvel star’s paycheck for his ‘Avengers’ movie..
“I went to see my friend who was doing theater in England for £300 a week, you know how it is, but doing a great job, Chekhov, and I sat smugly in the audience having done a show from the BBC for $30,000 or something like that,” Hollander recalled. “And I was thinking, ‘Well, this is wonderful. I’m very prosperous, but my good friend Peter is doing this great work and then I’m going to go see him and patronize him a little bit and tell him how wonderful it was.'”
Everything was going great until he checked his phone during intermission. “I thought about checking my emails and I had received an email from the agency that said: ‘Pay slip: His first box office bonus for ‘The Avengers,'” Hollander said. “And I thought, ‘I don’t remember being in ‘The Avengers.'”‘”.

“It was an astonishing amount of money,” Hollander marveled. “And that was not his salary, but his first box office bonus. Not all the box office, the first. And It was more money than I had ever seen in my entire life, it was a seven figure sum.. And he was 20 years old or something like that.”
Hollander also joked that it’s been “very difficult” to almost share a name with Holland as his popularity has skyrocketed in recent years.
“Obviously I don’t get mistaken for him on the street, but in non-visual contexts I get mistaken for him all the time.” he said. “Talking to the utility companies, they would just say, ‘So what’s your name, Tom Holland?’ Because they’ve heard ‘Tom Holland’. I say, ‘No, it’s Tom Hollander.'” Sometimes, he said, “I get introduced to kids who are very, very excited, then confused, and then disappointed. They say: ‘My children are very excited to meet you.’ And I say: ‘Are you sure?‘”.
