Tennis stars Gaël Monfils and Elina Svitolin are married. They got married today in Switzerland and the first tennis event in their new role will be the Olympics in Tokyo.
The best current French player and the winner of the 2018 Champions’ Tournament got together at last year’s Australian Open. Then in April this year, they got engaged and after a failed Wimbledon, where they both dropped out in the second round, they got married.
The 34-year-old Monfils has ten ATP tournament titles and is in sixth place in the world rankings. Eight years younger, Svitolinová has so far won 15 titles and her maximum in the WTA ranking is third place.
