On Saturday morning, searches for the man suspected of having abducted his two daughters, Norah and Romy, whose bodies were found last Saturday, resumed.
As on the previous day, a large-scale Sûreté du Québec (SQ) police deployment carefully examined the dwellings and outbuildings in the Saint-Apollinaire and Saint-Agapit sectors.
However, everything indicates the authorities now no longer believe that Carpentier can be in the sector since the provincial police force announced, in the evening, to end its research in the vicinity of Saint-Apollinaire.
“The Sûreté du Québec wishes to inform the population that it is modifying its means of investigation in order to find Martin Carpentier, and this, starting this evening [samedi]», Can be read in a press release.
It is specified that all the checks at Saint-Apollinaire, Saint-Agapit and Laurier-Station have been carried out, hence the withdrawal of the troops.
Thousand reports
The SQ has been able to count on the vigilance of citizens over the past few days. After asking the population to open their eyes, more than 1,000 reports were sent to them. The provincial police force claims to have “treated, validated and analyzed” each of them, even if the vast majority were unfounded.
