In Sofia, treatments with anti-icing mixtures have started due to snowfall. The snowfall is heavier in the southern parts of Sofia Municipality.
The companies engaged in the winter cleaning of the city perform treatments with anti-icing mixtures with snow removal equipment. In addition to the streets where public transport runs, steep sections and municipal roads are being worked on – in the Slatina and Krasno Selo districts the steep road sections are being worked on, and in Pancharevo the roads in the villages of Plana, Pasarel, Bistritsa and Zheleznitsa.
Work has also begun on some inner-neighborhood streets in Mladost, Ovcha Kupel, Gorna Banya, Suhodol and Vitosha.
In the Vitosha mountain the sanding of the two roads is carried out: “Dragalevtsi – Aleko” and “Boyana – Golden Bridges”.
At this time, public transport operates in winter conditions and follows its usual routes.
The teams of the Sofia Inspectorate control the cleaning activities. The emergency directorate of the municipality also performs field visits.
The Sofia Municipality reminds drivers to use cars equipped for the winter and to drive carefully and at a reasonable speed.
BLIC recalls that earlier today NIMH warned that heavy snowfall would freeze the country.
