The second dose of vaccine against Covid-19, scheduled to begin to be applied as of next week, does not necessarily have to be received at the same vaccination post where the first was applied.
This was stated yesterday by the Deputy Minister of Collective Health, Dr. Ivelisse Acosta, noting that the important thing is that the person carries the card where it is specified that it corresponds to receive the second dose and the type of vaccine that was applied.
He said that this seeks to provide facilities to the population so that they do not neglect or forget to apply the second dose, which is the guarantee that they will complete the immunization scheme and therefore control the virus.
“If a person is indoors and they have to get vaccinated that day, they will not stop doing it because it is not near the center where the first was applied, they can go to the center that is close to them or see that there are fewer people in line, the important thing is that he receives that second dose ”, explained the official.
He also recalled that although there is a well-defined National Vaccination Plan, which will continue to be applied as designed, it should not be forgotten that it is a “living plan” as the Vice President of the Republic has said on other occasions, therefore if it needs to be adjusted, it will be done.
Acosta’s statements were offered when answering questions while leading a press conference at the Ministry of Public Health. While the country awaits the arrival of one million doses of the vaccine from the Chinese company Sinovac, which will continue the process of applying the first and second doses of the Covid vaccine, the latter scheduled to start from the 24th. of this month.
