The Rimac Nevera: The Fastest Electric Car on the Nürburgring Circuit, Beating Tesla’s Record by 20 Seconds

The fastest mass-produced electric car on the Nürburgring circuit is the Rimac Nevera. With more than 1,900 horsepower, it beat Tesla’s record by about 20 seconds.

The tug-of-war for the title of the fastest mass-produced electric car on the Nürburgring circuit between Porsche and Tesla has seen a major turnaround. It was the Model S in the Plaid version that had been leading the rankings since June of this year with a time of 07:25:23 minutes, but now a new entrant has entered the game. The Croatian manufacturer Rimac with the Nevera electric hypersport managed the legendary track by a whole 20 seconds faster! Nevertheless, it must be remembered that we are comparing a monster with an output of almost 2,000 horses with a luxury family sedan.

“Nevera has reinvented the world of hypersports in many ways – bringing new technology, new capabilities and a new level of performance. The easiest way we can demonstrate her abilities is to go out on the track and break records. That’s exactly what we did repeatedly in 2023,” said Mate Rimac, founder and CEO of the Rimac car company, about setting the record.

Croatian competitor Martin Kodrić managed the standard configuration of the track with Nevera in 07:05:29 minutes and the shortened version in 07:00:92 seconds. “During practice this week we had some tricky weather conditions and we probably picked one of the hottest track days this summer for the final attempt.” describes Kodric.

“Driving this car around the Nordschleife was truly exhilarating, whether it was a crazy start where the power of 1,914 horsepower was distributed precisely between all four wheels, or pressing the accelerator to the floor on the two-kilometer straight, where the speed was well above 390km/h, “ added the Teo Martín Motorsport racer.

To celebrate the great success, Rimac has created a special limited edition Nevera called “Time Attack”, of which only 12 will be produced. Each of them will have a special paint job that matches the appearance of the car from the Nürburgring.

Although this is a remarkable performance, the fastest production car on the German circuit remains the Mercedes-AMG One, which achieved a time of 06:35:18 minutes last November. The Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR and the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series only narrowly lose the first place with times of 06:43:30 and 06:48:04 minutes.
