The Pope calls the cruellest Russian troops Chechens and Buryats

Pope francesco comment once again on the Russia-Ukraine war. Now he calls the most brutal Russian forces Chechens and Buryats.

Reported by CNN, On Tuesday (11/30/2022), Pope Francis described the two Russian minority ethnic groups, Chechens and Buryats, as one of the “most violent” armies fighting in Ukraine.

The pope was speaking in an interview with the Jesuit magazine, America, which was published on Monday but took place on Nov. 22, according to the outlet.

“The most violent are probably those who come from Russia but not from Russian traditions, like Chechens, Buryats and so on,” he said.

“I’m talking about people who have been martyred. If you have people who have been martyred, you have someone who is a martyr to them,” he said. Pope francesco.

Chechens are an ethnic group native to Chechnya in southern Russia. Ramzan Kadyrov, the pro-Kremlin regional leader, has largely supported the war in Ukraine and even reportedly sent his son to fight there.

The Buryats are an ethnic group native to Eastern Siberia, in an area that borders Mongolia.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova defended Russia’s ethnic makeup on her official Telegram channel.

“We are one family with Buryats, Chechens and other representatives of our multinational and multifaith nation,” he said.
“And together we will certainly pray for the Holy See, each in his own way,” he said.
