Polda Metro Jaya detains Roy Suryo tonight as a suspect in the Borobudur Temple stupa meme case. Roy Suryo has also been transferred to the detention center of the Directorate General of Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya.
Roy Suryo was transferred to the detention center at 21:34 WIB. He wore a batik shirt and mask.
Roy still wears a neck brace when he enters the prison. No comments came out of Roy Suryo’s mouth.

The former Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) only gave a thumbs up when asked by the media crew. Roy Suryo will now be detained for 20 days at the Polda Metro Jaya detention center.
Reason for Detention
Roy Suryo was detained by Polda Metro Jaya after being named a hate speech suspect. The police made arrests because they were worried that Roy Suryo would lose evidence.
“This (detention) was carried out because there were concerns from the investigator concerned that he would eliminate evidence and so on as stated in Article 21 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code,” said Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metro Police Kombes Zulpan at a press conference at the Metro Jaya Police, Jakarta, Friday (05/18/2019). 5/8/2022).
Several pieces of evidence were seized by the police. Roy Suryo was arrested starting tonight.
“Investigators have decided that starting tonight Roy Suryo Notodiprojo as a suspect in this hate speech will be detained,” he continued.
In this case Roy Suryo was charged with a number of articles. He was snared starting from Article 28 paragraph 2 junto Article 45A paragraph 2 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE) and/or Article 156A of the Criminal Code and/or Article 15 of Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning Criminal Law Regulations.
