In the future, a mobile phone will be enough for Latvians to divorce, for example. However, the mobile version of the E-signature app is not only useful for divorce, of course.
Citizens can carry out a very wide range of legal proceedings, including proof of identity. This summer, the e-signature application created in Latvia has obtained the highest security qualification in the entire European Union (EU).
“Compliance of the e-mobile certificate and the entire system procedures and technical means with the highest security requirements,” Edmunds Beļskis, Chairman of the Board of the Latvian State Radio and Television Center, emphasizes that the e-mobile version is recognized as secure at the highest level and not only in Latvia.
“E-signature mobile is comparable to a handwritten document in physical life throughout the European Union,” says Beļskis.
The mobile version of the electronic signature is being appreciated by more and more people. The restrictions imposed by Covid-19 this spring have led to a rapid increase in the number of users of electronic signatures, the signature has already been used more than 1,300,000 times. The mobile version is already used by 60% of all electronic signature users.
With e-ordinary it is possible to electronically sign various legal documents, powers of attorney or purchase and sale agreements. You can also register on various state and municipal portals, and there are much more opportunities than registering with the Internet bank. Registration options are available not only on the pages of Latvian local governments and state institutions.
“With an e-signature you can go to portals in other countries and they have to recognize the identity of our signature, and we can receive the necessary services there,” says Beļskis.
The electronic signature and the mobile version in particular are expected to replace the usual identity documents in the near future, even when crossing the border.
The security of electronic identity is already reliable enough, which, for example, was useful to ensure the remote work of Saeima deputies this spring.
