The Mass Effect trilogy is being refurbished, and a new game in the series is on the way

Since it’s November 7th (or N7, which Mass Effect fans probably understand), EA has finally unveiled by Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. As rumor has it, this is a refurbished version of the first three Mass Effect games, with all of the downloadable content baked in.

The three games do not get gigantic overhauls, but the rough edges must be sharpened down. Higher resolution and frame rate, as well as upgraded textures and models are what make this package new.

The package will be released in the spring of 2021, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. In addition, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Seres X / S get small improvements, but not separate versions in this round.

EA also says that a new Mass Effect game is under development, but has no details to share yet.

Long infamous

That a refurbished version of the first three Mass Effect games is in the works is something we have heard rumors about for a long time. The first really sure sign came earlier this year, when EA presented its quarterly results and told that an “EA HD title” would be unveiled in the coming months. This was spun on by VentureBeat who claimed to have good sources that it was just a Mass Effect package that was on the way.

As we announced earlier this year, BioWare posted a cryptic Mass Effect message on Twitter in January this year. The message contained a video showing us parts of the opening sequence from the first Mass Effect game, which sparked rumors of such a package.

Mass Effect was released in November 2007, while Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 were released a few years later, in 2010 and 2012. Both first, others and third the game received 9 out of 10 points from our reviewers.
