Compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, the increase in production volume was by 12.5% in terms of the share in the largest manufacturing sector – manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork. The production of chemicals and chemical products continued to show an increase in production in July – by 13.7%, and the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products. With the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic diminishing, the first month of July saw an increase in output in the manufacture of machinery and equipment – by 11.9%, in the manufacture of furniture – by 10.5% and in the manufacture of clothing – by 9.1%.
In turn, the decline in output continued in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment – by 26.5% and in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (manufacture of motor vehicle parts and accessories, which includes various automotive components) – by 16.8%. Production also declined in the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, in the manufacture of basic metals and in two of the three largest industries by weight: manufacture of food products and manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (by 0.2% and 15.5% respectively).
In July 2020, compared to June 2020, the volume of manufacturing output according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices increased by 4.1%. Production also increased in mining and quarrying – by 0.3%, but decreased – in electricity and gas supply – by 27.1%. Total industrial output decreased by 0.8%.
In July 2020, compared to July 2019, the total turnover of manufacturing according to calendar adjusted data at current prices increased by 5.5%. Exports increased by 9.8% (of which in the euro area – by 14.6%, outside the euro area – by 5.6%), while in the domestic market turnover decreased by 1.5%.
In July 2020, compared to June 2020, the total turnover of manufacturing according to seasonally adjusted data increased by 4.2%. Turnover in the domestic market – by 0.4% and in exports – by 6.2% (of which in the euro area – by 12.1%, outside the euro area – by 1.6%).
