Members of the Irish rock band U2 unexpectedly played on the Kiev metro station on Sunday, which now serves as a shelter from Russian shelling. They were invited to the Ukrainian capital by President Volodymyr Zelensky. This was stated on Twitter by the band’s frontman Bono and guitarist The Edge.
“President Zelensky invited us to perform in Kiev in solidarity with the Ukrainian people, so we did,” the musicians wrote on Twitter.
