the government takes money from entrepreneurs and the economy to save it

In 2021, we must be prepared for new and higher taxes. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki explains the moves of his cabinet in a rather peculiar way. He says the government is saving the economy with new taxes and fees. But is he not taking money from entrepreneurs to give it to them?

Contrary to promises, the year 2021 will bring new and higher taxes, fees and other levies

Socialism is said to be a system that heroically overcomes the problems it has created before. You can certainly apply these words to our government’s tax policy for the coming year. In 2021, taxpayers will face a number of ‘surprises’. New and higher taxes and fees will appear from next year.

An example could be even sugar fee, fee for the so-called “Monkeys”, transformation fee on funds accumulated in OFE, trade tax. Entrepreneurs operating in the form of a limited partnership will pay more. It will also increase rain tax.

While other countries are trying to save the economy by reducing the burden on entrepreneurs and citizens, our idea is exactly the opposite. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is of the opinion that the new and higher taxes serve this purpose.

The head of government argues that the International Monetary Fund has described the anti-crisis shields prepared by Poland as one of the largest in the world. For this, however, the state needs money. Where to get the money? The answer is obvious – new and higher taxes.

It is hard to resist the impression that the economy would do much better without any shields and without additional burdens

This type of line of reasoning sounds insane. For what is the point of looting entrepreneurs with new and new levies only in order to throw them some scraps in the form of another shield? Perhaps, however, there is some sense in this approach to saving the economy.

Prime Minister Morawiecki finally mentioned that in this way the government was saving the industries most affected by the crisis. So let’s recall: tourist voucher turned out to be a misfire, Poles quickly figured out ways to cash them. And by the way, by encouraging citizens to travel, we helped the coronavirus spread.

Funding for the arts and entertainment industry ended in a scandal with subsidizing the richest celebrities. Perhaps the interested parties themselves are convinced that “they simply deserved the money”. It must be admitted, however, that even Minister Gliński decided to cut the payments and once again verify the conclusions.

The catering industry has an unresolved government problem with rogue commissions charged by intermediaries in the form of online applications. Existing entrepreneurs anti-crisis shields rather, they described it as “unfair” and “insufficient”.

The United Right is ready to spoil the economy not only of Poland, but also of the entire European Union. All this so that no one could in any way prevent domestic politicians from disregarding domestic law. After all, what else would the veto over the EU budget and the special reconstruction fund serve otherwise?

The new and higher taxes actually serve to further finance the political goals of the United Right

One could even try to defend this type of argumentation of the prime minister, if not for other actions taken by the government in the meantime. New and higher taxes are not everything – the Treasury is getting ready for massive checks with the use of controlled purchase. The season of hunting entrepreneurs will probably open soon.

Perhaps the most disadvantaged industry is public media? Despite the raging coronavirus epidemic, the limited efficiency of the Polish health service and the economic recession, the government in the draft budget for next year has reserved another less than PLN 2 billion for the needs of Polish Television. Let us recall: compensation for TVP it has actually become a fixed budgetary expenditure.

Instead of imposing further burdens on Poles, the government could always abandon the most expensive social programs. We could, for example, abolish the 500 Plus or forget about the thirteenth and fourteenth retirement years. The problem is that the government’s priority is not really saving the economy.

If this were the case, the government would do everything possible to keep Polish small and medium-sized enterprises afloat. The largest companies are likely to cope with themselves. Meanwhile, Mateusz Morawiecki prefers to continue to finance the unrealistic dream of President Jarosław Kaczyński to build a “Polish welfare state” at the expense of business and the entire economy.

Someone has to finance this dream. It fell on entrepreneurs in the first place and all the rest of Poles in the second. And that’s where the new and higher taxes in 2021 really came from. And there will be no prosperity from it.
