Martinique is currently in a dengue epidemic and has been for several months. The dengue epidemiological surveillance indicators indicate the continuation of the epidemic on our island. The spatial distribution of biologically confirmed cases shows a very active viral circulation throughout the territory and particularly within the municipalities of central and northern Martinique. The south nevertheless remains less affected by the epidemic, particularly in Sainte-Anne.
Surveillance of severe dengue cases hospitalized in intensive care / intensive care
Six severe indigenous cases of dengue were hospitalized in an intensive care or intensive care unit. Two of these 6 cases died (February and June 2020) and classified as being directly related to dengue. A third death, classified as indirectly linked to dengue, occurred on the day of his hospital admission (end of June 2020).
Since the start of the epidemic, 8,380 cases have been clinically suggestive. Martinique is currently placed in Phase 4 level 1 of the PSAGE * dengue fever: epidemic confirmed.
