The culprit confesses to have mistaken his girlfriend to death

TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com – Suspect MI (19), a young man from Cibodas, Tangerang City, who killed his girlfriend Susilawati (20) by strangling, claimed to have made a mistake while doing the action.

“Err, sorry,” he said during a press conference on the planned assassination that was held by Tangerang City Police Resort, Tuesday (6/30/2020).

MI suspect also claimed to have killed his girlfriend who only two months he knew from the social media facebook with his bare hands.

He admitted that the crime he committed was the result of jealousy when he saw WhatsApp, his girlfriend interacted and exchanged messages from other men.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Metro Tangerang City Police, AKBP Burhanuddin explained, the suspect was arrested after a week after the murder incident.

On June 23, 2020, at 1:00 a.m., the joint team of the Tangerang City Police Resmob Sat Criminal Investigation Unit arrested the suspect together with evidence of a cellphone belonging to the victim’s house in the Cibodas Sub-District of Tangerang City.

“The motive for the murder is jealousy,” said Burhanuddin.

The chronology of the incident was explained by the Tangerang City Police Chief Sr. Comr. Sugeng Hariyanto on June 11 The victim and the perpetrator rented a room in the Habitat Apartment.

Then at 3:30 in the morning on June 12 there was a dispute because the perpetrators saw the victim’s WhatsApp message which was filled with replies from other men.

At 04.45 West Indonesian Time, the perpetrators then took the victim out of his room and looked for a place around Jalan Sasmita.

“The mode was carried out by the suspect sitting on the edge of the pond with the victim and strangling and covering the mouth of the victim, after being confirmed unconscious, carried by the victim by the suspect and then thrown in the pond,” said Sugeng.

The suspect is subject to article 340 juncto 338 of the Indonesian Criminal Code concerning premeditated murder with the threat of a maximum sentence of life.
