The cohabitant rejects allegation of long-term family conflict – NRK Norway – Overview of news from different parts of the country

Defense lawyer Benedict de Vibe was a close colleague of the killed lawyer Tor Kjærvik for more than 20 years. He wonders the allegations of the murder suspect’s defender, John Christian Elden, that the murder is due to a long-running family conflict.

To NRK, de Vibe says that he is unaware that there has been such a long-running conflict between father and son.

He also says it is not right to speculate on this now, and that the investigation will reveal what the motive and background for the murder is.

Came surprisingly on the cohabitant

The cohabitant of defense lawyer Tor Kjærvik, who became an eyewitness when Kjærvik’s son allegedly shot and killed his father, also rejects the allegations from Elden.

– She (the cohabitant, editor’s note) is of course severely affected. She witnessed what happened, her development assistance lawyer Ellen Holager Andenæs told TV 2 before continuing:

– What I can say is that this to a very high degree came as a surprise, and like lightning from clear skies. The cohabitant has not perceived that she has had a bad relationship with the accused. No one had thought that something like this would happen, she says.

Killed in his own home

The murder happened around 9 pm on Monday night in the well-known defense lawyer’s home on Røa in Oslo.

The police have been reluctant to provide information, but several witnesses NRK has been in contact with have told NRK that up to seven shots were fired with a large-caliber weapon.

In a press release, the police write that the accused has been linked to the act. The police say that they do not envisage that there will be more arrests in the case.

– The accused even called the police yesterday. That is the background for the arrest, said section leader Anne Alræk Solem in the Oslo police district to NRK the day after the incident.

The motive for the murder is not yet known.

– He explains the reason, but I will not go into it, Solem said.
