This is the case of a video of a report that was made to a group of cholas that became a sensation 10 years ago and who managed to make famous the phrase “The glasses behind mean that my neighborhood supports me”.
Do you remember this video? The young women were part of the gang Rsouthern eyes 12 Chalco Unión de Guadalupe, a group belonging to the municipality of Valle de Chalco in the State of Mexico. After an interview was conducted with the women’s group, in which they discussed their dress code and the meaning of the glasses on their head, they became known.
“The glasses here (eyes) mean sadness, the glasses here (on the head), from a heavy neighborhood and the glasses behind (on the back of the head) mean that my neighborhood supports me,” said one of them.
And a decade after this video went viral, as well as the memorable phrase of the glasses, he youtuber Yulay shared this 2020 a video in which he talked with one of the members of this group of cholas.
Karla, member of the now extinct group Southern Kings 12 Chalco Union of Guadalupe, mentioned that the gang disintegrated shortly after they became known thanks to the video.
“We all disappeared, some married, others are no longer here, only the memory remained. Some jumped into vice, southerners are making luck on the other hand, “said Karla.
The interview that the youtuber carried out was carried out on the wall that contained insignia that identified the gang, In this place the reportage that made them viral was also recorded.
